1. What sizes of units do you have?

American Self Storage offers a wide range of sizes to accommodate your needs. Storage sizes vary depending on the location and sizes range from 5x5 (25 square feet) to 12x40 (360 square feet), and larger. Understanding the right size for your needs is easy with our online storage guide.

2. What kind of security do you have?

It is our mission at American Self Storage to protect your belongings with our top of the line security. We feature on-site resident managers, video cameras, electronic gates (each tenant has their individual code), individually alarmed storage units, fenced and well lit facilities, and personal locks available for purchase. These features vary by location so contact the Store Manager for details.

3. Do you have 24 hour access?

Yes, all of American Self Storage facilities have electronic gates with coded access; 24 hour access is only available upon approval of management. Talk to the manager about a customized Personal Identification Number (PIN) that will grant you 24 hour access to your unit.

4. Do I have to have insurance on my unit?

All customers are required to have insurance on their goods as long as it is in storage. They have the option of purchasing our protection plan (at participating facilities) or showing us proof of homeowners or renters insurance that covers off-site storage.

5. What do I need to do to move out?

American Self Storage requires a written notice before vacating. We do not prorate. Customers may stop in the office to sign the notice to vacate. We ask that you stop into our office and fill out a notice to vacate a minimum of two weeks prior to your next pay date. On your scheduled move-out day make sure the unit is completely empty, your lock has been removed and the store manager has inspected the unit.

6. Can I pay my bills online?

Yes, paying your bill online is simple. Click here to access your account to make a one-time online payment or set up recurring payments. Customers may also log in to their accounts by clicking the Reserve/Pay button.

7. Do you offer rental or move-in trucks?

American Self Storage offers customers a free move-in truck on the day of your move. (At select sites)

8. What is an "on-site" manager?

American Self Storage has "on-site managers'" that will answer all of your potential questions. They are usually the Store Manager and have an apartment on-site as part of the facility. Having an on-site manager increases the security of the facility by a substantial amount since there is someone there during non-business hours.

9. What is the difference between a Drive up and Hall unit?

A drive-up unit is an outside unit that is located on the first floor of a facility. Drive-up units allow you the ability to load or unload your belongings directly from a vehicle or truck. Hall units are out of the weather, minimize dust if you are storing for long periods of time, and free carts are available to make your move more convenient to a hall unit.

10. What is climate control? (Air Cooled)

Climate control (Air Cooled) is a feature offered at select facilities in California, Nevada and Arizona. Climate controlled (Air Cooled) units keep the temperature inside your storage unit at 55 to 85 degrees. Extreme temperatures can damage items stored in non-climate controlled units. 11. What's the difference between office hours and gate hours?

Office hours are the hours of operation for the storage facility. During these hours the on-site resident manager will be able to assist you with your storage needs. Gate hours are the usual hours that your unit can be accessed. American Self Storage can provide 24 hour access to your unit. Ask your local facility manager for details about 24 hour access.

12. Do I get a lock when I rent a unit?

American Self Storage offers a variety of moving and packing supplies. Customers can purchase a new lock at the front desk. We recommend purchasing a disc lock to ensure the highest level of security.

13. Do you offer RV/boat/car/motorcycle parking?
